Amount of Cannabis Allowed

Eligible patients with a physician's approval may possess up to 2.5 oz. (70.87 grams) of usable marijuana.

Conditions To Qualify for a Medicinal License

cancer, glaucoma, positive status for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, or the treatment of these conditions; A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces cachexia or wasting syndrome; debilitating, chronic and severe pain; severe nausea; seizures, including but not limited to, those characteristic of epilepsy; or severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to, those characteristic of multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease; or agitation of Alzheimer’s Disease;

Cost for a Medical License

The patient fee is $50. The caregiver fee is $100. The authorized purchaser fee is $50. If a patient or caregiver receives one of these benefits and can provide proof, the fee is $25: Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

How much can you grow?

Patients who elect to cultivate their own cannabis are limited to 12 mature plants and 12 seedlings. Patients who grow marijuana and all primary caregivers must register their grow location with the DOH.

Primary caregivers may possess and cultivate medical cannabis for up to five (5) patients at one time. A primary caregiver may possess up to 24 mature marijuana plants with valid medical cannabis tags, as well as 24 seedlings."

Fines / Cost

"Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, patients will be required to designate if they wish to grow their own cannabis or appoint a caregiver to grow on their behalf. They will no longer be able to cultivate their own medical cannabis and have a caregiver grow for them at the same time.

Possession Penalty:
- Less than 1 oz.: civil offense (max. $150 fine)

- more than 1 oz. but less than 1 kg.: misdemeanor (up to 1 yr., max. $500 fine)

- more than 1 kg. is considered intent to sell."

Consumption Rules

"Cannabis consumption must take place on private property.

Smoking or vaping in a designated non-smoking area is prohibited.

Driving or riding a bicycle under the influence of cannabis is illegal. Consumption in a vehicle is not allowed, for either drivers or passengers."
